oil is in my turbo charge pipe
I installed a greddy turbo on my 99 ex this past weekend and i have only drove up the road once to make sure that every thing was working and it wasnt boosting. so i parked it and then was going to install my boost controller (PROSPEC B) and when i went to unplug the vac hose from the wastgate (internal) it had oil in the hose so then i took off the charge pipe (cold side) and there was oil in it as i feared. does this mean that i have to replace the seals? if so any advice? i think that the problem is that it was not draining enough oil because my bung is smaller going into the oil pan than it is coming from the turbo. i have some pics of the build and i will post as soon as i have time but i need to yank the turbo out for now. any advice would be great.
it was a lot of oil like maybe 1/5 of a quart it went all the way to the intercooler. and yea it is a used turbo its been sitting for about 6-8 months. i think it might be the seals. know any one who can fix or any one who has one for cheap its a td04h.
My turbo shot oil into the pipes too, its normal....theyre oil lubed/cooled so naturally some oil is going to get in there. That is a lot thou, if the car runs ok and doenst consume lots of oil I wouldnt worry about it......if it consumes enough to be noticed then id look into getting the turbo seals done........u can send it out for that just google it.
I have a buddy that does turbo rebuilds for fair prices, pm me if you're interested in his service.
Otherwise, call around to some shops, a lot of places do them. Where are you located?
