Default ok, stock engine..

2000 Ex coupe.
stock performance.
and 4000$.

What I need to know is do I upgrade to Vtec, then turbo it for the most HP? Or do I do something else? I have no idea with the turbo thing.

My engine is the stock 1.6L 4cyl

What in your opinion would be the best way to go for maximum horses?
oh and if you know any websites with some cheaper than 2800$ turbos, let me know lol.

read the forum for topics regarding the d16y8, that's the engine you have. you need to do A LOT of research before you even consider turbo, because it's not exactly as simple as putting on a intake. most of the engine work that you'll do is so you can run more boost; you CAN turbo the stock engine without building the stock internals, but you'll then be limited to lower boost levels. the vtec upgrade that you speak of bears no purpose, since you ALREADY have vtec.

(from wikipedia)

Turbo-kits.com and dezod.com (the sites i assume you went to), have kits that are overpriced. however, considering that you know nothing about turboing a car, you'll need to do a lot of research first.

good luck man. you have a lot of work ahead of you

Just a little fact, wikipedia is a public site that anyone can get on and post anything they want. Not saying that post has anything wrong with it. Just advising, not everything you read on there is true. I found that out the hard way.

2000 EX with a y7? You SHOULD have VTEC unless your car is from Canada or something

but with $4000 you might be able to do a mild build, but at the very least a super nice turbo setup. As for more info about that, read the stickies.
