PLZ tell me its as easy as...

i have a stock 2001 civic coupe. looking to buy a used turbo kit. its coming with everything it needs fuel injectors and fuel pump also. its also coming with a lovely KPRO. the turbo its coming off of is a 2004 civic coupe with the same stock engine as mine.

Can i take turbo, kpro and all off the 04 and put it directly on my 01 without a tune?

Note: The KPRO is already tuned to the 04.

Since its the same engine and all (d17), i figured i can swap straight in.

i dont know much about Kpro but every engine usally tunes different and will probaly not be perfect but you can definitly put it in and see how it runs because it would be a hell of a good basemap. ive heard people doing this and never having to get a tune too

u are turboing one of the worst engines. I doubt everything will just swap over nicely since every custom setup is custom to the car. If you buy it you might have to get new piping which isnt too expensive, but you will have to customize it to your car. Good Luck!

Meh....it should all work out. But like whats his face said, itll be one hell of a basemap. Each car is tuned at a temp/humidity and it will have slightly different results based on the exhaust, wear n tear, stuff like that. But yea, no offense, a d17 is a garbage motor. Swap a k ::D

Trent, for my education, what the heck is so bad about the D17?

JKG01CIVIC 04-10-2009 06:12 AM

so nothing is different about the cars? 2001 and 2004? they are exactly the same?
reason i ask is because i thought they might have different map sensors. if you know facts let me know please.

They aren't bad motors in themselves. But they are pewp to boost. There have been FULLY built d17's with sleeves, rods, pistons, cam, 3" exhuaust, top mount, larger turbo etc. That barely make 400whp. A fully built d16z6 or similar have made 700. Of course there are ignition components and many other things that go into it

Not directly related to your specific question, but read THIS and THIS.

They're fine for boosting. I don't remember if they have the same oil pump issues as the D16Y8 though.
