Default Polished and Ported Head

Quick question. I'm rather new to this stuff, but I just wanted to know if I am running a Nitrous system ( Nitrous Express) would it be worth it to get a ported headwith new piston heads, valve springs, and cam (shaft and gear). I know D17 are bitches to mod but I wanted to get some feedback on this before I jump into anything that might be worthless. Thanks.

Yeah it is safe to run off of stock internals I had a compression test done, butI would rather build the engine a bit without a swap, andI don't know if its worth it to put a new head on it. I know most heads are used for forced induction only so ifI dont run a turbo on it, is it worth upgrading it?

Honestly, I'm sure you know this those bottom ends are weak, and aren't good for too much horsepower.
How big of a shot are you running?

Just a 50 shot. What kind of bottom ends can I get to make it a little more sturdy. I have been told they are weak but I was too stupid to ask what mods I could do.

Alright, well Im going to tell you, and i know its something you dont wanna here. The engine is probly good for like.. say 180whp. If you really wanna get the power going, get yourself a decent platform such as a D16z6 ( 92' - 95' civics) Or a D16y8 ( 96 - 00 EX civcs) Youll have a much better experiance. trust me.

Do you think I could get a better platform for it or is that not worth it. I know that i could do swaps and different stuff like you said an older style civic but I was just looking for other options around that.I really just want to build it for like 230-250 whp and 190-210 wtq something pretty fun to drive around without a turbo but i know either route of building the motor or turbo is pricy.

You could honestly pick up a 1.6 litre D series engine for like 500 or even less and put a turbo kit on it, and it would be able to handle 225 horsepower with a good tune on the stock bottom end.
don't expect to see that much torque on a honda engine. Expect to see around 140-160. Atleast you can wind them out to 7k+ though. Lol.

i don't know how weak the d17 is but if you're only running 50 shots then you should be fine as long as you don't mis shift and over rev. i've been running 50 shots on my d16y7 for a long time and i still haven't had anything happen to my engine.

and i'm pretty sure 50 shots won't give you that much power even if you do build the internals

The more mods youve got done the better, but the D17 is a poor platform. It can make decent power, but its just much more expensive. I wouldnt try to make it fast, unless you have $ out the ****,
