a supercharger is going to give you all the power at once. while the turbo will be a smoother transition.

Either I am not understanding this statement correctly or I don't agree with it. A supercharger will give you boost from about idle to mid range in the RPM(well a roots style at least). Your foot determines the amount of boost at the time and there is no such “transition†seen. It just feel like a more powerful engine. A turbo will give you boost as soon as it spools, and that is when you kind of get hit with the power(you feel the transition). So I don’t agree with you on the “smoother transition.â€

Now to answer the original question, yes you can supercharge or turbo an automatic, but it will kill your tranny sooner if you are constantly beating on it. If it is slipping already you probably don’t want to do anything to make it slip more(because it will). If you are going to keep the automatic, you should first look into a rebuild and upgrade. I had the valvebody upgraded on my truck automatic and it makes a hell of a difference on the shifts. I am not sure if this service is offered on a civic’s automatic tranny, but you should look into it.
Now if you already planned to swap out the auto for a stick, then wait until you get that in since they can handle more power than the automatics.

its a d16z6 engine..and i was planning on running vtec piggyback in it..cause i heard that auto vtecs were better cause ur shifts are always perfect at redline.. i wanna do body kit and stuff with it....and do it right.... but im sick of having cars with mainly show..and no go... soo i wanted something to boost me up there at least a lil bit... what engine does anyone suggest i put in it if i swap that??? it was just recently swapped about a year and a half from the 93 dx engine to the 94 ex with appx 50000 miles on it.. soo the engine has like... im guessing..80-90k.... but the tranny i think has the 220000 on it... it only slips when its cold... soo u need to like warm the car up before hand... but i do that anyway

Yeah, I believe they are the same becasue my instructions are for 92-00, but I think there are some different clearance issues between the generations' engine bay.

But like Wheelbroker said, give 'em a call and ask for Keith, or e-mail him @ taberk@mossmotors.com
Keith? yeah right, haven't u read the horror story?
