supercharger w/ bov
now i know what a bov does and how it works....but will it sound exactly the same on a supercharger...and ive seen people use a supercharger w/out a bov...but on a turbo i always see a bov....how come its not a must on a supercharger?....
i apologize if this is such a simple question and im just not getting it....i was just thinking about it, and ive searched for a thread about it, but couldnt find anything....again thanks for our your help

On a turbo, the air can't escape the charge piping without going through the compressor or through the engine. A supercharger I believe just uses a normal intake so its not pressurized. Don't quote me on that though
so...and i dont mean to sound rude, im just still a little off....if its not pressurized and the job of the bov is to release the pressure and prevent surge, then why even have one on a supercharger[>:]?...and how would it work on a supercharger if there is no pressurized air[>:].?..
You usally don't see a BOV on a supercharger. A supercharger is driven by a belt...a turbocharger is spun by exhaust gases and has this little thing called inertia. The throttle is slammed shut, but the turbo is still operating at it's normal RPM still pushing the air against the throttle.
A BOV works the same no matter where it is...it's operated by a vaccum line, which pulls it open when the system is in vacuum (Throttle plate closed). So it'll open when you close the throttle plate...I can't really think of a supercharger setup with a BOV though....can you show me one?
