Default too much boost?

The other night my friends and i are out and about when this crasy yellow civic pulls up at a stop light and i can hear his turbo spooling at idol. He pulls away and demonstrates the signle loudest BOV i have ever heard. I mean it sounded like a baloon popped in his engine almost. Was he running WAY to much boost on his car or would spooling at idol be normal for a built engine? p.s. it was a wigger inside with an upside down/sideways visor so i just have my doubts that he would feel the need to build up his internals.

was the exhaust really loud at idle? if so it was prolly an open downpipe which you can hear the turbine in the housing sounds almost like a whistling.

unless his turbo was like the size of a whistle i dont think it would be spooling at idle...

Turbos really only spool up at WOT, i don't think they produce boost at partial throttle even if the revs are high. But I'm not the most knowledgable guys on turbos.

oh yeah...'idol' is somebody you look up to...'idle' is what you mean

he prolly had one of those turbo whistles. thats why it was 'spooling' at idle.
