Default tuning

Just wondering since I don't know all that much and i'm considering getting a turbo. How much would a "good tune" cost.
Also, I'm having trouble convincing my parents that a turbo would be reliable and not shorten the life of my vehicle. Any words of wisdom on convincing them?

depends if you can find someone near you who knows how to tune. i would say around 100 bucks for a good street tune. it just depends on the people that you know. also the reason why engines are shorter on a turbo is A) because people run too much boost on the stock internals B) people dont have a good tune. so if you ran 5-8 psi on your stock motor, you would be fine. but anything over that i would recommend to build the internals (forged pistons and rods).

thanks, i dont want to run much more than that, just looking to get up to like 180 hp or so. I just need help convincing my parents that it wont decrease the reliabilty and life span of my engine.

tuning a car properly (both on the dyno and on the street) will cost u 300.00 or more depending on where u go. It is the best money u will ever spend though. Ur car car will run stronger, longer, and will bring a smile to ur face every time u drive it!! If u r paying for it then tell ur parents just that "i'm paying for it, so why not!" Good luck!!

^Nice! Yeah, a good tuner will charge around $150 an hour and it takes 2-3 hours to get it right so your looking at 300-450, but its worth it to squeeze out all those ponies and it still be safe and nice on your motor
