a lot of variables there. Do you want to piece together a custom setup or buy a complete kit? The kits are more expensive, but to be honest, you pay for the convenience; custom turbo setups are every bit as good (and a lot cheaper) than something from, say, GReddy.

If you want a kit, you're looking at $2000-$4500 on average.

To piece a kit together, I need some more info:

What turbo (at least if it's internally gated or externally gated)?
What numbers do you want to see?
Are you going to build the bottom end or boost the stock block?
Brand name parts or junkyard parts?
What are you going to use to tune?

Generally, you're looking at $1,500+ to piece it together, depending on what extras you get and where you get the parts.

And please, please don't go ebay for the turbo itself. Unless it's a factory turbo from something like a dsm, there's a very good chance it'll blow in short order.

Originally was about $1200 or so, but it's well over $2K and still not complete. you better have funds! and read the stickies, this question has been covered many times

Wow... I have a friend that turbod' his civic for $400. I'm not sure how but he did it, and it was terrible. In the end he ended up putting more money into it and building the motor eventually.

He got the turbo for around 50 off of a generator. Used ebay manifold was around 50. Used ebay intercooler was around 50 as well.Used ebay wastegate -mega cheap. He had a junkyard 1g dsm bov I think. His Charge piping was random exhaust piping. Open down pipe(flex pipe I believe). And chipped his own ecu. Everythinig else was stock like injectors, clutch, etc. It was super ghetto rigged, and I was surprised that it worked. Trust me I was as shocked as you when he told me he did it for 400 too.
And before a motor mount failed (it was helicoiled) he had around 230 whp. After he did eagle/vitara of course.

You have to remember the crappyness of his build. He spent less than 800 for the whole job . : ) He never had it dyno'd that was just his estimate. That mid 13 was a guess too. It might have been faster or more powerful, but he was being conservative with his guessing.

I just remembered the most hilarious thing about his build. He couldn't afford brackets for his intercooler, so it was held on by a door hinge attached to his bumper. Freakin hilarious if you saw it.
