i am thinking about a trubo, and was wondering if there is a way to turn off the boost so it isnt always boosting, so i can save gas.

My best recommendationwould be to do a LOT more research. You shouldn't turbo your car unless you actually
understand the functionality of each piece in the system. As for your question, If you stay below where your
turbo kicks in i believe you get better gas mileage because the air is atomized allowing for better burn. Some body
can correct me if im out to lunch though.

no, the only way to save gas with a turbo is stay out of boost. Granny shift it and drive slower than a turtle on a rampage.

This is the funniest thing Ive heard all week, ... sorry.

You cant turn off boost, but its very easy to drive and never hit boost by driving "normal"

^ lol yeah just don't drive hard on it. Unless you slam on the gas you're not gonna get into boost. You can get up to almost redline without boost if you take ALOT of time getting up there lol or once yu're boost, disconnect an intercooler/charge pipe and you won't see boost.

Willpower my friend, that's all you need. By the way, I own same car as you, recently boosted and fun as hell! Also have had to put in1800 dollars worth of extra work into it after the 2000 for the installed system. Compression and leakdown test it, replace your clutch, get a new headgasket, and get a second job.

I don't see why you couldn't turn your boost off. Well technically it wouldn't be turning your boost off but if you had a valve in your charging pipe that wuld open when you press a button and push it all out through there then you wouldn't hit boost. Or if you had a pipe that went around the turbo and connected everything else around it that was hooked up 2 a valve that would open the bypass pipe and shut the turbo pipe then you wouldn't get boost. But that would take alot of work

so all that extra money spent to bypass boost seems pretty stupid. More things to go wrong and more places to leak... also try explaining this new bypass system to your fuel controller

dito. sounds preatty stupid to bypass the turbo...... why not just NOT turbo the car?

cause isnt turbo depend on everything.... compresion from the motor, as well as the computer since tuning is so important!

unless you got a spare computer to plug in after opening up the intake pipe.LOL
