wastegate spring cut down
this may seem like a silly question but has anyone ever cut down a wastegate spring to get a desired psi rating? also is the the vacuum hose that fits on the base of the wastegate crutial or not. any help much appreciated. i just wanna get my dam civic boosting right.
Well for starters, which wastegate do you have? Are you trying to raise psi, or lower it?
I've heard of people cutting springs, but it hardly seems worth it when you can get a manual boost controller for fairly cheap.
The air hose nipples need to be hooked to something (or capped off if it's the one that is supposed to be hooked to a boost controller) or else the wastegate isn't going to do it's job. There are a few ways they can be routed

i saw this in a setup that honda tuning mag was doing, poor mans manual boost controller....just go to lowes or home depot and buy a pressure reg for an air compressor only like 15-20 bucks

Uh... yeah. Your wastegate opens when the pressure under the diaphram becomes more than the spring can hold, causing the valve to be pushed open.
