Default What else..

If you want to put a turbo on your car, what else should be done to the engine? Obviously exhaust, but do you need things like fuel rail, cams, etc?

its a good idea to have some bottom end mods done to your engine and have it resleved, unless you wanna be runnin at 6 psi all the time. also if you dont replace cams make sure you advance the intake ones a little and retard the exhaust

EDIT: er sorry...other way around [&:]

with a basic setup you will be fine totally stock with just some larger injectors (assuming it comes with an ECU piggyback) if you want big numbers and boost then you have to pay to play

I'm about to buy a 97 Civic EX with about 90,000 miles from a friend. It's in pefect condition. What kind of gains could I expect from something mild like a turbo with 8-10 lbs of boost? Anyone know where I can find the stock specs for my car (HP, torque, etc)?

Edit: Also, is it possible to have a boosted car without an enhaust that is not rediculously loud? My friend has a 91 Integra that he has a 3" exhaust on and I can't even hear myself think in it

you can keep the stock exhaust, but if you're looking to make some power, i'd swap it.

Yeah, keep the exhaust size to 2 1/4" for N/A and 2 1/2" for turbo.

Yeah, his car is turbo'd. He has so much done to it it's sick. Even he regrets how loud the exhaust is.
