Nice that there bringing the sedan back. Some odd styling though.

sfazngiants 04-07-2010 09:59 PM

the taillight and the spoiler looks kind of funky. Still looks good though.

croninc 04-08-2010 11:16 AM

looks like a sporty family car imo, i actually liked the hatchback look...was more of a rally inspired look i think.

Kenny-g 04-08-2010 04:42 PM

Hmmm not sure if i really like it haha it looks a lil too "out there" but subaru always does that with their impreza's and they end up being wildly popular and succesful race cars (rally mainly)...still prety nice. Wouldn't complain if i owned one

jprommel 04-08-2010 04:45 PM

looks like an older evo mated with an older sti

Yeah, thats kinda always been their M.O.

With the new STi sedan, Subaru addressed just about every complaint they've received since going "hatch only" a few years ago. I think it's great that they are constantly reviewing user/driver feedback and will give the people what they want.

A lot of people aren't sold on the design just yet, but no one EVER is with new Subarus (Think late '05 with the Alfa looking grille debuted). It'll grow on most people and they'll learn to love em.

....all that being said, I'll take the hatch/wagon style any day

Sigracer10 04-09-2010 08:27 AM

i think it looks pretty sick. I have always been a big fan of the sti styling, especially the last few years. and I an extremely happy that they are bringing back the sedan sti. I like the look of the hatches, but I like the sedans just a little bit more.

the only part that is kind of meh is the bottom of the rear bumper, not really diggin the mesh, but I can overlook that cuz I think the rest of the car is sexy.

I plan on buying one as soon as I graduate, which will probably be the 2012 model.

croninc 04-09-2010 11:40 AM

the rear lights look like a honda accord lol

+9,001

There's something about Subaru design changes... you hate them at first and then they grow on you. Except the tribeca, eff that noise. I hate working on those things.

I still like the '04/'05 STi best though.

Kenny-g 04-09-2010 08:10 PM

^ this is very true...i hated the last sti models (the hatches) when they first came out but a guy in my neighborhood got one and the more and more that i saw it in his driveway and on the road ive grown to like them...subaru has done a tremendous job at suckering people in like that haha +1 for them i guess :p

I'm with you...Subaru's claim-to-fame was being excellent 4wd/awd rally cars - I think the hatches are more true to the pedigree (for lack of a better word).

theblackpearl 04-14-2010 08:59 PM

hatch for life :D

jprommel 04-16-2010 05:10 AM

^yea seriously... i'm an evo fan and i will even say that the new gen of evos are fugly. its like the designers were like, "hmmm lets see how much plastic we can stuff in the grill...."

reaper2022 04-16-2010 09:55 AM

kanarrjl, evos tend to suck a lot more than STIs. Also, there's the whole Mitsubishi thing they have going where reliability goes out the window as soon as aftermarket parts hit the car (I had a lot of friends with Evos in college).

As far as the STI, I like it except the quarter panels; I'm not a fan of the curves... then again, I'm an '04/'05 fan. Boxy cars with hard lines rock :D

kanarrjl 04-16-2010 10:56 AM

sorry guys Id take a new evo over a new sti any day hands down. but I also would take either of the older styles (evo or sti) over the new styles. like reaper said boxy cars with hard lines

vstaryder 04-16-2010 01:02 PM

As a general rule - IMO - if the base model of a given car looks good, then the top model looks even better...the Lancer looks like my grandma's car - the EVO not much better. I appreciate the performance but as a hot looking design - like the Si's are - it ain't much. You can mount a rocket on a turd - it doesn't make me want to own one! But hey, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.

jprommel 04-16-2010 06:57 PM

i would so own a rocket propelled turd...

Kenny-g 04-16-2010 07:36 PM

^ wow i think we just all learned something new about someone ;p hahaha

Now this is one sexay as ride...not new but still got a hella lot of balls...id take it over any evo, civic si, or rocket propelled turd any day:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhzyB...layer_embedded

reaper2022 04-17-2010 08:53 AM

I'll be honest. I'll take the wrx/STi hybrid owned by one of the other techs I work with over any stock STI. I've driven it and it's a friggin' beast.

And rocket-propelled turds ftw.

Kanarrjl, have you driven both cars? I haven't driven an evo, so I can't make an honest comparison, but I have driven multiple STIs ranging from stock to built. From what I know about the evo, I like the STI interior better, the ease of working on the STI engine better, and the appearance of the STI better. Also, you'll never be able to beat the sound of a boxer engine :D

kanarrjl 04-17-2010 10:18 AM

actually no i havent driven both yet, altho im hoping to soon. a couple of my friends around town have wrx's not all are the sti but i jut find them too comon and a tad boring. altho i will probably be driving a 2010 evo soon, a guy that i know who builds cars (he has a 400-500 whp neon) has a girlfriend with one. my dad has riden in it but i have yet to. :(

Kenny-g 04-17-2010 03:40 PM

Never driven any of the three cars mentioned on here but i have driven an old 93 impreza (5 speed) i used to have haha it was actually a lot of fun and i used to drive an 08 galant raliart (sp) before i bought my own car and oooh-wee that was actually really fun to drive...handled like it was on rails haha it was no evo but it was still nice.

Did you seriously just refer to the Civic Si as a "hot looking design"?

if we're talking what looks worse....

reaper2022 04-20-2010 01:15 PM

You've got a Hennessey Viper for your avatar. I mean, seriously, the front end of the car looks like it's making this face: =D

Your taste in cars' looks is invalid.

kanarrjl 04-20-2010 01:28 PM

^Im sorry but if you think that a Hennessey Viper is ugly you need your eyes checked!

reaper2022 04-20-2010 02:03 PM

I just think the front end could use some work. Besides, I've never been a fan of Daimler-Chryslers. $70k for a 12.7-second car seems a little steep for me.

kanarrjl 04-20-2010 05:38 PM

im pretty sure that it is faster than 12.7 being that Chrysler claimed my moms car was a 14-second car and guys are running 12.8's all day with them and my moms car is only at 450hp or so(adding in k&n's added hp numbers). The 2010 models will do mid 11's acording to Chrysler, 0-100-0 in 11, 0-62 in under 4 and a top speed of 202mph.

anyhow they are on the last year of the current "generation" of vipers which means facelift.

404: Hotness not found. lol

Yep, sure did...for this class of car I think it looks better than most - definitely better than Impreza's or Lancer's that's for sure. But hey - opinion's are like a$$hole's...evrybody's got one...

Forty04 04-21-2010 04:26 AM

lol, hokay! Obviously looks are subjective but Civic Si styling is about as inspired as the last **** I took

reaper2022 04-21-2010 05:48 AM

^ I'm with stupid.

And Kanarrjl, even if the stock viper run 11's (last spec I saw was 12.7, but I'm sure it's way outdated), that's coming from a 10-cylinder. Ford now runs mid-13's with their v6's. I'm still not impressed by the viper, especially for the cost. I don't know, maybe it's because I see too many of them around here and they've lost their luster.

kanarrjl 04-22-2010 12:18 PM

^well that means that there are too many self indulgent wieners in your town with too much bloody money! lol if you don't know what im talking about you need to watch gone in 60 seconds.

vstaryder 04-23-2010 01:58 AM

Well, around here in NY at least, dealers have NO Si's available at all - can't keep em on the lot long enough! So it seems a lot of people like em - must tell ya something about the "general" opinion as to whether or not people like the design!

Look at it this way...they come a looooong way since 1976!

You are kidding yourself if you think people are going into Honda dealerships to buy Si's because they're beautiful cars..

Si's sell because they're easily affordable under most budgets, are safe, reliable, FWD so you can easily drive them year round, and to the average joe they're kinda quick.

reaper2022 04-23-2010 04:42 AM

^ Again, he's absolutely right.

And I'd take that '76 civic over a new Si any day.

Also, tony, get in the lounge and give me your opinion on my mustang vs. a wrx.

Forty04 04-23-2010 05:06 AM

Will Do! :D

vstaryder 04-25-2010 02:15 PM

Not my experience - a few pople don't like the latest Civic's style - nothing makes everyone happy but most people I know think it's a great looking car. I'll take it's style and sportier look over any blah-looking sedan (Impreza, Corolla, etc) that all look pretty much the same. But hey, to each his own. One thing I don't understand though is why someone would slam Civic's on a Civic forum...seems to me there are better places to be if you don't like em.
