Hi. Forgive the noob.

I have 97 Honda Civic (like ~50K miles). I inherited it. I suspect it was driven in 3rd on the highway or something. So, the transmission makes an ugly thunking noise as it upshifts from 2nd into 3rd, and less so from 3rd into 4th. I've been driving it mostly around town for year with this problem, which doesn't really bother me but then I tend to drive it gentle and have gotten used to how to drive it to minimize the thunking.


I assume I need to swap or rebuild the transmission.

I need recommendations from somebody in the Boston region who I ought to have do this. I'm willing to drive it someplace out of town. I'm cost sensitive. I'm very likely to sell it afterward, since I don't really need to cars.
