Renting a Supertelephoto lense.
I am planning on renting a lense for the football game in November, I got some ideas from my Canon forum. I plan on renting a Sigma 50-500mm F/4.5-6.3 HSM OS. Anybody have any other ideas as a good super telephoto lense? thanks

I absolutely love this site. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=141406 anyway, there is a list of lenses with prices and links to sample photos taken with the lenses. So look away. From looking at the one you posted, it seems pretty decent especially if you can keep the camera still (ie a tripod) especially at longer distances (which is natural). The color seems to be a bit washed out on it but with a bit of post processing, you should be able to make it more vivid.

Greddy, i use that website everyday. Im pretty much a regular on there. Definitely won't be able to take a tripod into the game. Nothing on that thread though about the Bigma. It has the older 50-500, without pictures though...

hmm. I love that site btw. It's insanely active and everyone is really helpful. Like I said in my thread, I'm looking at getting the sigma 28mm f/1.8 Macro in the spring. but where do you rent lenses from? They can be expensive to rent even. And what body do you have?

Adorama.com
Borrowlenses.com
I am renting 50-500mm for 112 dollars for 4 days, and that includes round trip shipping and insurance.
That lense sells for 1600 brand new.
Sfaz: A good all around camera forum i used to go to is thephotoforum.com, but i lost interest in it since finding the canon one.
Also, some of the people are very "professional" and will give you comments but no feedback to help your photography.

Just a thought, but what venue are you attending for the football game? Have you made sure that they will even allow you in the building with equipment like that, without a press pass?
I know Joe Louis Arena only allows "up to 80mm" lenses for Red Wings games. The Tiger's game I went to (Comerican Park) however, had no rules.
Just something to keep in mind.
