yea those pics of the church are really good. i wish that i could take pictures that good
Thanks. And believe me, with a halfway decent camera, some reading, practice and patience, you can get good results too. I've come a long way from my first pics and I've seen photos taken with my exact same camera by experienced users that make mine look like crayon drawings. :D So I've got a long way to go. I will be investing in a telephoto lens, some filters and wide angle lens next. Keep the pics coming everyone...:)
+1...it doesnt matter what camera you have as long as you know what you are doing. Like my friend, mai, she doesnt even own a camera but she has amazing shots. She even has some polaroid. BTW, have any of you use the old polaroid cameras yet? those are awesome. The only bad thing is that the film is so expensive, 12 bucks for 10 pictures. so expensive.

^ You are so very right Ricepatrol. Check out this link to Ken Rockwell. There's an article he wrote titled Why Your Camera Does Not Matter... He explains that very statement and supports it with a link to Ansel Adams a photographer from the 1940's. This guy didn't have photoshop, all the latest tricks and technology, and his photos were still nothing short of amazing...

EDIT... These black and white photos were made using a 50 year old $3 disposable camera. Pictures... Wow! [8D]

Amg, love the pic of the Mini facing out on the mountain. Civicexracer, you got some real good pics there. Captured the fall colors very well. And looks like you used a slow shutter speed on the water to get the effect of motion. Nice... :) Keep the pics coming!

mill$civic 10-23-2006 11:21 AM

RE: unoffical photographers thread

looks good guys, ahhhhh so the slow shutter is what you use to make the water look like that, now i just have to find a strem and try it, the water and trees look amazing

wow...reading this thread i have come to the conclusion that i'm sticking with all-manual SLR film cameras...screw this Point-and-Shoot digital crap.

that picture is amazing. good job to whoever took it.

civicexracer 10-23-2006 01:19 PM

RE: unoffical photographers thread

thanks guys. the water shots didnt come out as well as i wanted...i left my tripod in my car cuz i didnt want to carry it around so the shots arnt as good as they could have been...if u wana do a water shot with longer exposure i strongly suggest using a tripod cuz just a little bit of movement can mess it all up.

jake11375 10-23-2006 02:24 PM

RE: unoffical photographers thread

^ Ditto.... Tripod is a must on a photo shoot, you never know what great opportunities may come up where one is required. I've had some shots that look great on the small camera LCD but get them home to find they're out of focus or slightly blurred. [:@] It takes some nerve and getting used to with people obssessively gawking when you carry around a tripod, camera, accessories and actually take time with different positions, angles, settings, multiple takes etc, but I'm getting more bold with public locations... I'm like, "I'm not taking a picture of you... now get out of the way!" :D

civicexracer 10-23-2006 02:46 PM

RE: unoffical photographers thread

hahaha i know how u feel...i always get looks when walking around with the tripod. i guess this is in my head but it feels like ppl are like "wtf" cuz i have such a tiny digi camera when i guess they'd expect something better like a nice SLR or something lol. i dont really care much about what ppl think or how they look at me but it is kinda awkward haha

ya i could do it in photoshop and it would be better but i dont have photoshop anymore:(. its cool from the camera but u dont get the full color of the structure, like its has dark areas for some reason. those being partially from shadows but some parts should be red when their not...
