So you really think that everything that goes on in the world, or heck, even in this country, makes it to the public media?
Not at all. However, I feel many of the truths behind stories are well hidden and it takes some searching to find journalists who actually did some indepth journalism and found out some real facts. If all people are going to do is sit and watch or read one source of news, then they might as well be rooting for a football team. Especially with this countries media outlets.

I am totally one hundred percent with you on pulling out of foreign nations. Overhaul the UN and let it take care of incidents. It's what it was originally created for anyways. But you know what would happen if we let the world be? Osama's entire base of recruitment would fall out. What infidels in the holy land could he campaign against anymore? That's the real reason he, better part of the Middle East, and the majority of the Muslim world, are so pissed. It's not religious fundamentalism that drives Osama, it's fanatic pride. He even sent Clinton a warning letter that stated something of the nature like, "America must decommission its bases in the Middle East and withdraw all troops immediately or else suffer the consequences." But the U.S.'s, and especially George Bush's favorite lover boys, the Sauds, wouldn't like this. They keep the oil flowing, and we keep them in power. If we pulled out, the Wahabyist majority would overthrow that government in a snap.

So untill someone makes a move to end that cycle the fun's is going to continue. But hey, the U.S. has to have its oil so soccer moms and macho dads can have their bigs SUVs and trucks to make them feel "safe." And on a final note, I'm sorry about your losses in this 2 year engagement. I really am, but I have also felt a loss of a teammate of mine who died on the second day of combat. It's sad to think they very well could still be with us if it weren't for our cowboy in office.

it's pretty easy to cover things up when you've got all kinds of connections. it's rumoured (i know i can't confirm it) that all the major news networks are controlled by the bush administration. if you control the news, you control the people. i don't believe bush has the brains to cover anything up, but his friends sure do.

also, patrick, i also can't believe you think it's ok just to wipe out thousands of people. wouldn't that count as a sort of genocide? i read a fiction book one time called the lion's game. it offers an interesting perspective from the minds of people who live in the middle east and who've seen america "help out" their country. the main character of the book is islamic, and he watched his whole family die during an american attack that took place to kill ONE guy the americans felt needed to die. along with the ONE guy, many innocent people died too. granted, this is a fictional story, however, this sh** goes on a lot. look at the war in iraq. sure, some of the civilians over there are thankful for us capturing saddam, but at what cost to them? dead family members, destroyed homes...i'm sure there won't be any hard feelings.

the thing is, there will always be terrorists. you can't just target one group and expect to kill them all. there will always be some radical hoping to make a political statement because he/she hates the way things are done. with as many people on the earth now, policies and events are bound to **** someone off somewhere and cause an uprising of sorts. with that said, i hate to think of the number of people who hate us now that america re-elected bush for another four years. it's one thing to elect him once, and then see the way he runs things, but to re-elect the most hated man in the world....way to go america.

side note....i support our troops with 110%, i have a lot of friends over there. i just wish we all could know just what it is they're fighting for. anyone hear the phrase "iraq is arabic for vietnam"?
