It's a racing shifter, it's to minimize the distance between the steering wheel and the shifter, as when you're road racing you sure as hell want two hands on the wheel as often as you can.

That car was taking bends like it was on rails. I love it...

It looks nothing like a minivan, it looks like a damn hatch, now stop it.

I'm gonna go try and find pictures of a shifter like that...

yeah... I hate quick easy access to my shifter resulting in quicker more precise shifts[:@]
