Not sure about you guys, but until recently I'd always wondered what one of the Hybrid Civics looked like under the hood...

well for the other curious ones...

whose ever idea it was to do this to a civic should be locked up IMO.

tbh, it's still a civic... handles pretty much the same, only it's heavier... and it's vaguely creepy to drive... no real engine noise to speak of outside of the electric assist making a whine of protest when you have your foot on the floorboards...

nothing like gettin 37mpg constant though... town & highway


under all of that plastic is a 1.3L inline 4, not sure on engine code/where the hell it would be located, though suposedly, it can deactivate 3 of the 4 during breaking/coasting

supposedly a 5 speed was available, but the motor pictured has a cvt

i imagine the feeling of the electric motor kicking in at full tilt is similar to a low psi boost application

Why are they covering all of the new engines in plastic? I love looking under the hood and seeing all the nuts and bolts. metal and gears.
