well painting them is only the backing... like this is when i did mine..





but before you paint them you might want to polish them up a bit around the chrome if you can. depends on how yours look. mine where mainly just paint faded. the chapstick trick works great! just let the paint dry to the touch and then you can just pick the paint off with your finger nail where you put the chapstick. i used some cotton swabs to help put it on the raised areas.
