well, yesterday my friend and i hit up the first wdcr rallyx of '08 at summit point raceway. we got there and noticed it was a bit muddy, didnt make much of it. walked the course and also did a parade lap and wasnt so bad. once everything before racing began was done, we lined up and my friend ended up being the first car out on the course. he goes and we notice its alot worse than we anticipated haha. he got his first 3 runs done and was alright, then when it was time for my first 3 runs, the course was complete mud. may not sound so bad but the course was a bit tight and driving in mud is very difficult. the car is very unpredictable and just kinda had to baby it around. too much gas and u just slide. to litte and u get stuck. turn the wheel, nothing happens...after the morning runs were done, we had lunch break and they changed the course and we ran it reverse. the mud dried up a little and the course was more spread out so we could go fast, much faster. all in all the afternoon was a blast. big puddle, good mix of dirt and mud, controlled slides, big ruts, just a ton of fun. the afternoon runs also gave us one hell of a work out. constant back and forth with the steering wheel, my shoulders were a bit sore after and i was outa breath hahah

its my friends dads wrx we occasionally steal from for racing. we told his dad about the event and taking it out and he was iffy on letting us take it. we then registered for the event and told him we did and he was like "damnit..." haha. wasnt mad, just a bit worried about the car. it does have 108k miles and for beating on the subies tranny like that, its rough.

which is why my friend and i are gena try to snag this to build as a dedicated rally car. if all goes well, we could have it in our hands by next week.

 

^Well, Subarus do have "glass trannies". Haha. Event looks like tons of fun.

I hope you snag up that Yota and get to work on it. That's going to be a great build thread.

Looks sweet...I wish we had rally crosses round here. There was only 1 last year.

 

fx 16. still hardly any power but better than the fx...apparently the guy who owns this one ran a 16.2 quater. good enough lol.

yeeeaaahhi really wana try ice racing. hopefully next year we can trek further up north for some. this year we'll just try to find events within a couple hours drive. mostly in PA.
