Kinda hard to put into words, but once you're on the board you'll get the idea.
Best advice I can give.. Just because you can stand up on a board, doesn't mean you should take jumps just yet. Case in point, my buddy Mark...

Stay over top of your board, knees slightly bent, and weight distributed more onto the back leg. Your back foot will be your "steering foot" for the most part, the front foot is more of a guide. Assuming you're regular (not goofy footed) when you're trying to turn left, lift up with your toes, dig in a bit with your heels, and push out slightly with the back foot. When turning right, dig in with the toes, lift up with the heels, and slide your rear foot out.

word up, enjoy it man, its a really fun hobby. Two of my buddy's are getting into it this year, and even though they've taken a lot of falls, they still say they're having the time of their lives.
Nothing beats a nice day, shredding down the hill, with nothing but the sound of wind blowing by. So peaceful, yet exhilirating.

I will say this, if it's your first time snowboarding, at the end of the day you will most likely feel like you got hit by a Mac truck. Parts of my body hurt that I didn't even realize could hurt the first time I went. You use so much of your core to stablize yourself that your abs and ribs will probably be pretty sore, as well as your butt from falls and whatnot. Good luck though!
