Like i said 429cj > any mass produced Nissan engine available. These are engines that made around 500/tq and 425+/hp 40 years ago

[sm=headbang.gif] So many Erector Set Spoilers...[sm=smiley19.gif]

Think if I wrote to the producers or something, I might be able to finagle one of those Evos out of them?

but with a reflash, intake, and exhaust, so does the RB26. and thats comparing a 7L+ to a 2.6L. not saying the 429 isnt impressive, but its not so great as to overshadow all-else. not to mention the smaller size and weight of the RB to that of the 429. so you could put the RB in, a few upgrades, and have a lighter car, with considerably more power. hell, if it were my mustang, i would pull the 429, and put it in my garage and play with the car with the RB in it till i wanted to sell it, then put the original motor in and sell it for a big pile of cash. that way youre not beating on a $15k motor.

But the thing you fail to see is that even at 7.0l all that is done w/o aid of computers. You take a 429cj and plop a nice $2500 aftermarket EFI setup, a cam, a set of alum. heads, and boost it and you have far more power than you would think. It is like that Z06 dyno a I posted. It takes so little with these big displacement engines to get monster gains and on top of that being the movies is of a drift theme you would think a engine with 400+tq at 1500rpm would own one that made that same amount at 4000+rpm

I was wondering something. is the SR20DE out of a Sentra the same block as a SR20DET? My uncle has an old 92 sentra, maybe ill get a 240 and do a little swap.

for drifting in real life, i could see the advantage, but you also have to realize, its based in Japan but seriously, if you had this $15k motor in your car, would you boost it? i mena there are enough musclecar guys out there that would gut you like a fish for even converting that to EFI. those old original motors are worth a lot because they are rare, not because they are worth it.

No they are worth it because they are worth it, the valves on a 429's heads are allmost big anough to fit your hand in, the bottom ends are solid and I dont mean 5/600hp solid i mean over 1000hp solid, the blocks themselves are cast iron when many of the engines of that size are aluminum. The cranks alone go for over $2000. These are not glory, gotta have it because it's old engines. These are gotta have it because by the time you spend the money to get a different engine up to it's specs you will have to sale your house and first born engines.

Still movie or not that is a dis-grace to that car and I hate mustangs. The RB's are great dont get me wrong but they are great when they are surrounded by a R32 or R34 not a 1972 RWD 3700+lb Mustang. that is why I dont understand all the hype around the RB's in to 240's, it just aint the same and you can make a engine do everything the RB does or better by the time you buy the swap and actually get it into the car.

I'm going to go to the theatre the night the movie opens; not to see the flick, but just to own the "Rice Pics" thread the next day. Me and some buddies did the same thing when the last one came out...there was soooo much rice it was unreal.
