well i got started today.im using Marnies wheel makeover DIYsooooo it'll prolly come out crappy but hey what can u do[:-]. just wire brushing and sanding which took about 4.5 hours and a Chipotle steak burrito

before sanding and whatnot


after some wire brushing. my car hiding in the background


after sanding with 100 grit, 150 grit, and 220 grit. center cap also cleaned up and sanded.


finished brushing and sanding all 4.


aaaand im going with the popular vote, black with red lip.


probably going to sand a little more with the 220 grit. dunno when ill be able to start painting. it'll be a busy week for me starting a new full-time job.



PS: j/k Marnie! ur DIY is great. if it comes out crappy its because i suck at this kinda stuff haha.

...and im getting there, slowly.. barely have enough time after work to paint. after like 6:30ish it gets a lil too cold to paint.

did like 4-5 coats of primer today...not the best job but w/e. i suck at spray painting stuff, only dont it a couple times, but im learning.





prolly shoulda cleaned them off a lil better. o wellzz

 

almost done. finished painting them with a semi-gloss Duplicolor high-temp paint. put like 5 coats, almost finished the can. i think i may do one more light coat tomorrow.

spots that look like under/over spray are just from shadows and the lighting, used a very bright light.





one more light coat, few coats of red around the lip and ill be done. cant wait

 

uh oh.....looks like you got some paint on the tires (or at least the bottom right tire in the pic that shows all four in black[8D])...lookin good man, cant wait to see the red lip!!!1!1

 

the first ones make me think of the joker. i voted black with the red lip and black center cap. i also voted before i read the thread and saw you added just leave them...and didn't really read the options too carefully since i figured the pics were the only choices and it's late. i'd keep them the way they are. if you really want a change, then i'd go with the all black besides the red lip.

 

Looking forward to seeing them all done. I'm actually painting my steelies black with a red lip right now... just had to cover up some of the rust, I didn't primer or anything... just wire brushed.
