Default Why do nice cars have 2 tachs?

Here are 2 really nice cars with 2 tachs, a stock and aftermarket. Anyone no why? Both cars were at a local show.

Never understood that myself..... my dx had a 3" sunpro but it had the dx cluster. One excuse I've read/heard is "The aftermarket tach's are more accurate than the oe ones", while I did notice a slight difference if rpms when swapping my dx for my ex cluster it wasn't enough to me to warrent the external tach.

I dono why they do it but I was thinking about getting another one because my sparco wheel is smaller than stock so I cant see my tach at low rpms like 0-4k anymore very well.

i never could understand it either
for me the stock one works better for me - i can look at the speedo & tach at the same time without moving my eyes much

maybe the engine/ecu is modified to the point that it exceeds the limits of the stock tach. if I dropped in a motor with a 8600rpm redline, having a stock tach with 6800rpm redline would get annoying really fast.
