I have been seeing alot of these letters around SOHC and DOHC and stuff. well you can call me a "noobie" or call this a dumb question but hey I am only 16 and still learning.

 

im guessing the question is what they stand for? is so, SOHC stands for Single Over Head Cam and DOHC is for Double Over Head Cam.

 

SOHC: Single Over Head Cam. this means there is one cam controlling both the intake and exhaust valves.

DOHC: Dual Over Head Cam. this means there is a cam controlling the intake and a cam controlling the exhaust.

simple enough.
