So I had brand new tires put on my car about a week ago, the guy that put them on said the back 2 have "Meaty" spots and took lots of weight. I feel a slight vibration on them. Question: Is it safe to just put it out of mind and keep driving? Will they wear down to normal and be ok in a while?

If you look at the tires, can you actually see spots that are higher or lower than other areas? If so, toss up a pic

 

Heres a pic Forty, as far as I can tell it looks like this all the way around...to me it looks fine.

i dont see any meaty spots, maybe i'm blind? did the guy point out the meaty spots? if so circle some areas on the tire that are meaty and then take a pic so we can see the difference.

I cant even spot any high/meaty parts. All I know is there is like 10 weight squares on one side of the tire, does that have to do with meaty parts?

 

thats just for balancing when they put new tires on a rim. i dont think it has anything to do with the meaty part of a tire. but i could be wrong cuz if there is a thicker section on a tire, then it could throw the whole thing off balance, well sheet.....i just cancelled out what i said first lol. oh well.

 

usually a tire has a marking on the sidewall with paint or oil marker that indicates a lighter than normal part that should be mounted in line with the valve stem of your wheel. that is my only comment or suggestion

 

as far as a "meaty spot", he's probably referring to a heavy spot in the tire. Those 10 squares come out to 2.5 ounces of weight. Or if he used the larger weights, 5 ounces. The amount of weight doesn't usually matter. Balanced is balanced. If your getting a vibration below 65 or so it most likely is the tire being out of round. If it's above 65 it's probably a balance issue. Either way you need to go back and tell him to get rid of the vibration. They should fix it for free seeing as of how you just bought four new tires from them. I know that any time we put tires on we take care of it as best we can.
