I've got 17's on my sedan, but mine are pretty dented up from potholes and stuff (bought them that way though..) if you're careful though, potholes aren't a problem, I havn't put any new dents on them since I bought them. The ride is comfortable, feels just as good as the stock 14's (I have Tokico HP springs/shocks). I would recomend getting some 16's though, I personally think they look better on coupes and hatches, plus, you won't have to worry about them denting as much.

Hey, not to thread jack, but thought this would be the most appropriate place to post.

Would you suggesting upgrading suspension first and then upgrading the wheels? I want to put 17s on my 02 LX Coupe but not sure if it'll look weird with stock suspension.

Car currently has 185/65-15. Tirerack.com suggests 205/45-17, does anybody agree?

yes lower first. even really nice wheels will look like a$$ on a car that still looks like a 4x4...205/45R17 is the right size.
