How much power are you wanting? And I don't mean to judge, but I don't think it would be a very good idea to invest all this time and money into a car that you're going to give to someone who is new to driving... especially if it has a lot of power. That's just asking for trouble IMO.

ok sorry for the delay ive been busy with baby problems and working on this car. so i have a buddy call me up the other day saying he has a motor for me he said its a d16z6. ive been doing research and for what i see the strong little motor thats worth fixing up. but the doen side he said its a automatic and my car is 5 speed can i use this motor with my tranny and it still be a five speed or what. i talked to a mechanic and he said i could i would have to change the clutch and fly wheel. but he wasnt positive. he hasnt worked on many imports. so will it work and is it worth

Your transmission will directly bolt onto the D16Z6 engine with no modifications needed.

the d16z6 is form a 92-95 civic ex or si, its a good motor, as for add ons and internals, first ... are you going to strip it down and rebuild it? or are you asking about some type of easy hp bolt on? if this is going to be a daily driver and if the motor is healthy just leave it like it is and drive it. but before droping it in i would replace the easy stuff to get to like timing belt/water pump, front and rear main seals.

if you know nothing about motors then i suggest just finding a complete running motor and drop it in, or if you have the $$$$$ to spend then drop it off at a engine machine shop and have them do it. rebuilding a engine the right way and especially if your gonna modify it , have someone with experience and education do it. it takes skill and special tools to rebuild a engine.

is there a difference between a motor that has a 5 speed trannny and a motor that had a automatic tranny. if i make sense. like is there going to be parts missing. i just put a clutch slave cylinder on my stock motor but i didnt know if this new motor coming from a automatic would have different parts. and i want to learn how to builld a motor that why i ask hese question to get different opioions so if i screw it up o well i will redo it. my neighbor is a mechanic and he said hed help but i wanted to ask the honda world some questions before i bug him.
