Hey guys, I got a 98 dx. I'm going to be installing skunk2 lowering springs which gives a 2.25" drop. I just bought some nice used wheels that are 16x7 with a +38mm offset. I dont want rubbing problems but with that offset im not sure if i can avoid it. The tire size i was thinking is 205/40-16. Any opinions on this guys?

 

205/40/16 is the correct size. You will probably rub and have to roll your fenders. There's no avoiding it.

 

I have front and rear camber kits to go in with the springs and shocks. When I get it aligned could I just tell the guy to set some negative camber? I've heard mixed opinions on negative camber affecting tire wear..Im not sure what i should do?

Nope, not really. Toe is key, like you said. You might lose 500 miles off the life of the tires, but that's a very small price to pay.

 

Ok cool. How about the tein s. techs and 205/45-16 tires. I want my car to very noticeably lowered. Would a 1.9" drop in front and 1.7" in back look good? Or should i go with the skunk2's.

 

Yeah sorry, 205/45/16 not a 40 series. I had 92-95 Civics on the mind.

Yeah, that drop will look good. Take note that those are only ratings and it is likely that the actual drop may be a little bit lower, say 2"

 

Everyone I know with S-Techs ended up at about a 2 inch drop and the back looking slightly lower than the front, hardly noticeable unless you look for it.

I am running 205/40/16 tires with a +40 offset lowered on Neuspeed Race springs rated at 2.25 front and 2 rear drop. Not even close to rubbing.

 

Just clarifying... the recommended tire size you use is different from his because you have a hatch and he has a coupe or sedan.
