Default Break Pedal Squeaks

Whenever I take my foot off the break pedal, it tends to squeak.
I don't think it's the brakes, but it's the pedal.

This mechanic looked at it and said something about it having to do with my parking brake.

So, then he looked under my car and said I need a REAR BRAKE CLEAN UP, which he wants to charge me $50 for.

What do you guys think it is?

ok heres what u need to do. Jack the rear of ur car up. Take the tires off. Get some 8MM bolts about 6 inches long. Screw those into the 2 holes on the brake drum. That will remove the brake shoe cover. Get some "Brake Cleaner" its like 3 bucks. Spray that all over the drums (Inside where u see springs and stuff)......put the drum covers back on, and the squeeking will be gone. I had the same problem. If u have disc brakes on the back then just spray the cleaner all over that. U will be solid. Dont pay 50$.....hes doing to do the SAME thing.

I think he meant squeeking's coming from the pedal...I have the same thing, but mine turned out to be a bad master cylinder....

Now I'm even more confused.
I hope its not the master cylinder, it doesn't seem to be anything too bad.
But I want to get it fixed now before it becomes a problem.

I would like to look at it myself, but I have no idea what anything is..
for instance, brake drum, brake shoe cover, hell.. I don't even know how to jack up a car.

So, I don't know what I'm going to do.

I have the same thing, and I would say it's the back. One way to tell for sure is to take your emergency break and just work it back and forth a little. If it still squeaks then it's drums, if it doesn't then you have a bad master cylinder.

Is the sound coming from the front of the car or the back of the car?
