Default Downhill Braking

I only really have this problem when I am going down a hill or mountain and braking. Whenever I am going down the hill and I brake to slow down around curbs my car starts rattling rather badly. It doesnt really do it when I am on a flat road.

I figure it from when I ran over a rather large rock one night when I was driving home.(horrible sight at night). Anyway, my question is this. Would this be more of an alignment problem or a brake problem in general?

Thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Only a thorough visual checkcan let you know for sure if there is physical damage. If you can't do this, yourself, have a friend or a shop do it. Most shops will do an inspection for free. It's tough to guess about noises, especially those that are not very common.
