Default drive shaft question

Forgive me. I'm a noob. I've not done much with cars. I went to get my tires rotated today and the guy told me I'm gonna need to replace my drive shaft soon. He told me it's like 200 bucks and I don't have the money right now. DIY??? how hard is it?? and also. If i do it myself is there anything I can do to improve my cars performance while I've got it open?? Any and All advice helps
Thanks
Jake

Default RE: drive shaft question

Drive shafts are fairly easy to change but you have to know what you are doing. It can be done for $75 (thats how much the shaft costs). Not much you can do as far as performance goes unless you wanna buy 300HP drive shafts but you wont' get any power from it. Use the search there is a thread (prolly more than one) one this that tells you how to change the drive shaft (sorry no pics)

Default RE: drive shaft question

Ok help me out here... 94 Honda Civic VX

I took my wheel off and bent the locking tab out but for some reason I just can't seem to get the nut loose. How tightly is it torqued and how can i get it off? Someone told me a breaker bar...

Also, am i going to need to take off my caliper? It would just be nice to know in advance.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jake
