Good Springs and Struts
Ok so i searched a bit on here looking for some info on the proper parts and brands to lower my 98 civic. I saw a lot about tein s-tech springs that said cheap but good for the money. Well what if i want good springs and good struts? I also will need a camber kit I believe. I currently have a 1.8" drop that i bought the car with... and it sags. Nikon lowering springs... not impressed. I was thinking eibach adjustable struts and springs, or maybe kyb struts and eibach springs... Any comments on how to re-do this suspension properly would be great. An estimated price range would also give me a headache, but help with my research. Thanks
i dont think you need a camber kit if you leave it at a 1.8" drop, and if you do leave it at 1.8 then just get the S. Tech springs.... if you wanna go lower than that, then i would recommend Ground Control Coilover... they use Eibach springs. Or if youre gonna replace the whole thing (Shocks/struts and springs), then just go with the Tein basic coilovers, or the Skunk2 Pro S Full Coilover if you want something a little less expensive
just having springs wont lower it as much as coilovers.... lowering springs will only lower your ride up to about 1.8" or so, coilovers will lower in UP TO 2.5"-3" or so.... it all depends on how much you want to lower the ride.
Ok, this may sound a little dumb... I'm new to the whole forum/posting idea and some of the dialogue used in certain areas of cars... but what does it mean to have a 1.8" drop? I know that's what i have because that's what was listed on the car when I bought it... but what is that in relation to the 2.5" to 3" drop spoke of above? I don't want my car any lower than it is already. It's ridiculously low but that's partly because the springs sag. I want to raise the car to a height where the wheel wells will be just over the tires with maybe a tiny bit of space in between. Keep in mind I have 17" Motegi MR7's with 205/40/17 tires. What size drop should I go with and should I replace the springs and struts? It just made sense that it would be a better idea to me. Thanks guys.
1.8", 2.5", 3.0" etc are all measurements. 1.8" = 1.8 inches.
Search around the forum. A few people have been asking these same types of questions lately. There is a SEARCH feature at the top of each page, or you can just skim through each sectoin. Good luck!

Well you guys didn't exactly compare eibach springs to Tein, but since you guys are all using them there must be a reason why. I think I'll save $100 and go with them... I understood that 1.8, 2.5, 3.0 were per inch drops... but I was kind of incredulous of the idea of going lower than my car at a 1.8" drop already. I thought maybe 2.5 or 3.0 drops were slightly higher? How do you drive a car with a drop lower than 1.8"? People ask me how I can possibly drive my car... i just say i'm good, lol...
