Is the power steering fluid topped off?

Axles definitely will become noisy when they are bad. When you replace them, also inspect the front suspension components for excessive free play.

What kind of miles on the odometer? Bearings don't last forever. Did you determine the need for axles yourself, or was this done by a qualified technician? (not to say you are not qualified, I don't know you) An axle, or CV joint typically won't make the type of noise you are describing. That nasty "hum" is usually a bearing.
Stock suspention, stock tires and wheels? You'll find out real quick what the issue is.....after you do your axles, and CV joints.

Wheel bearings make a humming sound while you drive and a clunking sound when you hit a bump when there going out. Might look into a wheel bearing
