Default I need FR brakes on 2006 Civic

It's time to change FR brakes on my wife’s 2006 Civic. I did a search but did not find a thread with the new civic FR brake job. Anyone can direct me to a thread!?

I called local Honda Dealer, and they do not sell the repair manual. They directed me to helminc.com for a manual. I called them and they R closed till MON morning. I want to do the brake job over the weekend, if I can get some info on it on this forum. I didthe brake job on myVW Jettaand other cars B4. But I'd like to have the repair manual, or some info in case I need some special tools.....or to look 4 something in particular on the Civic.

If no special tools or things to look 4 in particular are needed, I should have no issue doing the job without a manual. Any suggestions!?

Thank you!

A brake job on any Civic should be pretty much the same. I wouldn't see any differences in the generations....

Just my .02 cents.....

I've never worked on JAP cars before...but on many European makes and models. I gotta admit that JAP brakes are simpler than EURO brakes.

In JUL the car is gonna have 2 yrs. Front brakes replaced at 22,xxx miles. She drives 80% city, 20% hwy. I didn't even check the rear brakes. ABS with drum!? I wish the Civic had all 4 disk brks. Preety soon the civic needs new tires. I don't thinks she'll make it over 30K miles on her Bridgestones. I change her oil at 30% life time. I use Mobil 1 syntetic. Just Bcoz she's a city driver.

My VWTDI has 87,xxx miles and still has the orriginal brake pads.

it sounds like ur wife is riding the brakes or doing rapid halts that would be the reason they are already worn down same with the tires most likely.

I have the same experience. my wifes civic needed brakes at 16k miles. called the dealer and told them thats a load of crap and they should change them under warranty. I hear you laughing but I had to try.brakes should last over 30k with no problem. they wont give a price break and said this is normal. ya right.
thats ridiculous to replace brakes every 12 months. I ususally love Honda and have lost some respect over the brake issue.
other 2006 civic owners I know have had the same experience.

dealer wants 280$, Im gonna do it myself for 40$.

You know, the HELMINC is the best manual i have found so far as far as info for the cars. They are a little pricey, but they will help you with any problem that comes up. Chiltons is close, but still too broad.
