Default Lowering '05 civic

Hi, i've got a '05. I took off the stock wheels, and replaced with my racing ones i had on my '93 del sol. That worked out fine. Only thing is the rims are bigger, and the tires smaller, this already dropped my car about an 1", but now my car has a gap so big... let's leave it at that..

I was looking at springs, and reading stickies here on the board, and realized even if i found what i think is the best springs(right height, right price) it might not be what's best for my ride.

So, if anyone out there could help me find some springs(or coilovers?) for my 2005 civic it would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to lower it atleast 2 inches, but 3 would be preferred.

Cost is somewhat of an issue. Around $200 would be fine. Just not sure if i also get springs, i need the sway bars and stuff like that.

Thanks.

For springs giving a 2inch drop, i see Sprint, Tanabe, and Ksport. (From my time spent on my Ford Escort, i know Sprint/Eibach was good at the time. I only found a 1.4" drop on eibachs which dissapointed me but sprint is ok i think) Sprint i hear is good. Tanabe has 2" front, and 2.3" rear drop which i like since my rear sits higher. And Ksport is the cheapest. But figure i list it here too.

you need to get the correct tire size

i'd use lowering springs
you'll need better shocks if you lower that much. i'd look into KYB or tokico shocks

The car will ride a lot better with aftermarket shocks, I'm dropped on stockers and my car doesn't ride bad or bouncy, but I'm sure it could be better...

first off, you not going to be able to lower your car for only $200 unless you just get springs. Coilovers will cost a lot more, although you could look into some dropzone coilovers. I have them, but havent installed them yet.

What does tire size have anything to do with this??

I looked at tokico, 579 for the set of 4.

Coilovers are about 1k... but 180 for springs, and 580 for shocks.. that's 760... if there is a good coilover kit for about that price i'd shoot for that, because i hear 3.5" is possible with coilovers.

because when you do get new tires, i'm pretty sure you will then buy the correct size. then, it's possible that after putting on the correct tires after you're already lowered, you may rub. You should always lower the car with the wheels/tires you know you will be using in the future in mind.

Oh, yeah i already have the racing wheels i wanted on it... took it off my sol, and put the stocks one on the sol that i'm selling.

That's the thing, they are 17's with small tires, so right now my gap is freakin' HUGE!

I meant 379 for set of four... which ain't bad i guess lol

Yea but your tire size is still wrong. You shouldn't be running the wrong tire size.
I'm guessing that you currently have 205/40/17 tires.

You need 215/45/17 tires.
