Default Lowering a 97/98 1.5Lsi Vtec?

Is it just a case of taking the front shocks off and swapping the springs, then pulling the springs off back etc? How hard is it to do? Any guides on it etc?

tkae the whole strut out, take the cap off, take the spring out, use spring compressors to put the new spring on, put the cap back on, put the strut back in, tighten everything down. I just felt like typing, heres the DIY:

Nice one cheers for that, doesn't look too challenging! I've only ever done a clio which has a torsion bar not springs on the back Any tips for doing the fronts on the civic?

I think the fronts are just a couple extra bolts (that the Rear DIY that i posted doesnt include). Only tools you need are a socket, some WD40 (for rusted bolts), some air tools (for those touch bolts), and spring compressors for installation of the new springs.

I've got a pretty powerful cordless impact wrench so hopefully tht shud be enough? Im guessing the front struts just unbolt from the hub?

Proceedure of diy on your front strut.. After removal of wheel.
Take out the bolt/clip which hold your brake line to your strut.. DON’T don't disconnect brake line from the caliper (only if you want extra work.. lol)
Remove the nut/bolts (fork on the lower arm) 17mm.
Remove the 2 nuts on the top of struts (underneath the hood)
Then it should drop out the whole strut unit. Then remove the flange bolt which hold the fork and the strut unit (separate it).
Then use a spring compressor to compress the spring and remove the nut on the strut, after that remove the damper mount, etc..

BTW.. you NEED a spring compressor

OH.. If you just wana change the spring.. then don’t have to remove the flange bolt on the fork/strut. Save you a little step.
