I hope you guys don't mind me jumping in. I'm in the same boat as blazingwes. Just got a 98 civic & want to lower it approx 1" to 2". I thought all you needed were the lowering coil over springs I see all over e-bay for $40 delivered? What's the other stuff for?

dont go the coilover route. I got coilovers on my 90 civic hatch and 91 crx and it rides rough. When I lowered my 00 SI, I used sportline lowing springs and man, it rides sooo smooth. Go springs and then upgrade your struts and shocks.

here it is: get new shocks/struts and springs. you can find a great set of Tokico's for $500 give or take, shipped on ebay. you get what you pay for. def. go name brand here.
