lowering struts and springs any tips for instaling them? or things i need to look out for...
ok WELL i was gonna buy my rims first BUT if i bought my 5rims this weekend id still not have enough cash for tires for another 2weeks.... so nowi think... why not drop the sucker NOW get the springs on and settled so when i get the new rims and tires i can take it to the alignment shop and have it good as i can....
JUST PAID FOR THE SPRINGS...........
and ive read alot of posts before about people saying to buy new bolts cause they will snap when swaping...
so what is that... the LCA bolt or bolt from the strut to the LCA? figure i go in monday and buy the new bolts from the dealership....
i just hope i dont need any camber kits for alignment...

for me, the bolts attaching the LCA to the trailing arm and the strut to the LCA were the ones that siezed. However all three bolts that you'll be messing with down there are the same, so you can just buy a few of the same kind and return the ones you don't use.

o ok... so if i get the Stechs i shouldnt have any problem with having to replace them...

you will be better off with aftermarket shocks, tokico blues are pretty cheap and will do the job. don't waste your money on a camber kit, you don't need it. save $70 to get an alignment when you're done
well.... another 300bucks right now for new struts hum.....
still thinking....
o hell why not... i just wont get my rims for even longer
BUT IM NOT KEEPEN THEM BLUE! lol im painting them black!
EDIT.... ok theses blue shocks do come in pairs right? front 2 and rear 2.... just so i dont just order 1 front and 1rear.LOL
BYE BYE RIM $$$$$$$$$$

ya i just hope i dont run into other problems other than that one bolt posibly breaking... figure i might try penitrating oil afew days before i swap em...
another question.... with the new springs and struts..... will that be all i need to put the new struts/springs together.... that way i could just have these all put together to make a quick and easy swap... or do i need pieces off the stock struts?
cause id like to pull the struts outta the box and sand/paint them black ASAP and slap em together... do the washer trick with 2 washers on each stock bolt... and MAYBE replace that LCA/strut bolt...
but im curious... i hear people saying they break thiers and have to drill them out....
but is the bolts nut spot welded to the strut or made into the strut...
i got a strong air gun to just man handle that bolt but if it does snap like everyone says it most likely will... then i could just cut the spot welds and air chissle the busted bolt out.... and maybe just replace the bolt with some new hardened bolts and a simple hardened nut on the other side....
anyone got some pics of that new bolt or a stock strut? i just want to know..... ya know
im sure i can make it work... and work thru it... i got enough tools and stuff i can use to make it work... but when ya can get info on the swap ahead of time
it helps alot!

the ones that siezed up the worst for me were the ones from the shock through the lca. I had to drill it out, if you have new bushings or lca's on hand, you won't have to do that.
whatya mean drill out the bolt... the WHOLE bolt or just the other side where the nuts welded to the strut?
i think if it does snap i could just cut the welds and air chissel that sucker outta thier!!!
looks like thiers nuts welded onto the struts... im just not sure.
also for the front are thier any bolts that snap up thier or just the rears that are notorious for seizen up?
i hope to change my timing belt same time as the front struts.....
