What size are your current tires?

195 and 205 fit 5.5"-7" rims.

if you're going to a rim that has a .5" difference in width, you'll most likely be able to fit your old tires on them, unless you're running an odd size.

You're going to get rid of about 48 lbs of unsprung weight! Not only will your car accelerate faster, but your ride will improve significantly - well worth the cost of new wheels!

^i'm doing the exact same thing, i'm probably reducing unsprung weight by about 40-45 lb.

Right now, I have the stock 14-inch steel wheels. I wish I knew how much they weigh. Still, I'll bet they are heavier than 12 lbs. And the tires look like they belong on a truck!

screw the unsprung weight.

what's really important is that you're reducing rotating mass, which not only reduces overall curb weight, but should also help your handling and acceleration.

Actually, reducing unsprung weight, whether it's rotating or not, will improve ride and handling. Certainly, getting weight away from the circumference of the wheel and tire is desireable as well, primarily for acceleration.

In any case, get rid of the weight!
