Default NEWBIE NEEDS HELPS URGENT

Start off, hello everyone, i'm from the U.K and have just purchased myself a EK civic Vti, its 1999 car with 39K miles on the clocks....

anyway, my query lies upon coilovers, i want coilovers and on ebay i have seen these cheap coilover versions where as u use the original strut......now has anyone used and fitted these before on here and whether i can have some feedback to whether these are a NO NO or is it ok to go ahead with this?? plus do i need camber adjusters if i was to go around 80mm drop?

thanks in advance

I have heard (read) bad things about those cheapo coilovers. From squeaking to bouncing, but look if you put them on yourself and you hate them, you'll only be out 60 bucks (35 pounds).

Let's see...25.4 mm in an inch- 80 mm = 3.15 inches. Umm... yeah, you are gonna need a camber kit.

cool, cheers....few more questions if u can answer them for me pls.....the bounce may not bother me or the squeak but my main concern is the quality of the kits coz i don't want to fit them and find that they just break after a mile of driving and totally break my civic......i want to fit these and experiment but like i said that is my main concern.....they are going on ebay for around 55pounds

thanks

I don't know about the springs themselves breaking, but the problem with cheap springs is the wear and tear on your shocks/struts (from what I understand). There is a reason that good ones cost hundreds, even thousands of dollars.

I am sure there are other opinions on here, though.

they are not horrible. ive had them for awhile (though I replaced the springs with Eibachs after awhile) and they are decent. ive broken one sleeve over a couple of years. Now i am planning on getting a full setup, like the TEIN, or Progress sets. I think that you would be a lot happier if you went ahead and saved for a good set.

cool thanks mate, i do want some tein coilovers but because of the cost i am thinking of this cheaper coilover/lowering springs option until i can afford some real quality kits......can i ask whether you used your standard shocks or did u upgrade the shocks too? and how low did u go?

thanks
