Default PILLOW MOUNTS WONT COME OFF!!

[:@]hey, i have a 2000 civic hatch and i just got a new set of skunk2 adjustable coilovers, once i got thestock coilovers out of the cat i tried to take the upper pillow mount and it just stripped the allen wrench, i tried other people to hold it for me, lubing it up, sprayin wd-40 on it and nothing worked, there was no way, it seemed like it was impossibe to unscrew it. i know that you use a 5 allen wrench in the middle and a 14mm wrench to loosen it, but it wont, so do you guys know how to take it off??

are u using spring compressors? compess the springs so theres little to no pressure on the mount and then have at it with anallen key and racheting box end wrench. if u stripped the part where the allen key goes in, best bet is probably using vice grips to hold it still while u loosen the nut.

no, the nut can still break loose even with the springs de-compressed. DO NOT, take that nut completely off without compressing the spring first. not unless u want ur head to be chopped off by a flying mount lol.

dito.......

and if you can get a air impact gun slap that sucker on the nut! and keep hiting the trigger... dont keep holding the trigger just hit it LET OFF hit it LET OFF... that way it will give it a good fast spin...

at least that helped out when i pulled my stock struts apart! that allen wrench was a joke it was stuck so good but giving it a few hits with a air impact gun it came right off!

go to your local parts shop and most of them will rent the spring compressors for free, all you have to do is put down a deposit and they refund you it when you bring them back. and like civicexracer said, DO NOT take it off without compressing the spring, if you can even manage to do it.the nutcan be taken off without compressing them, but most likely the reason you are so much trouble is that the springs are not compressed. compress them and it will be much easier

dude be careful with those things. When i was doing mine, one of them was not compressed till ALL The load was off of it, I thought it was. When that thing came off, it flew across the room faster than my eye could follow. I was very lucky to have no body parts in the way...really be careful man.
