Default Potenza G 009

Does anyone have experience with these tires? According to the reviews they're a good overall tire and at $130 a piece, not too bad in price.

I had them about 5 months ago. Hands down, the best tire I've ever owned. When I got them they were on special for like $50 each. I hit something on the highway that took out both passenger tires and I just swapped the whole set (I didn't get the hazard warranty [:@]) plus, I hate having mismatched tires. I now have General Exclaim UHPs and they are just as good as the Potenza G009s. The only area the G009s did better to me was cornering because they have a bit stiffer sidewall, and hydroplane resistance was a littler more sure as well. The UHPs are better for daily driving with a bit softer sidewall but they are near neck and neck in performance as well. I would recommend looking into the UHPs. They are ranked #1 in Ultra High Performance Summer tires (tirerack.com) and they are less than half the price of the G009s. From my experience the G009s are not $72 better per tire than the UHPs, especially if you aren't going to be autocrossing or something that requires a lot of hard turning or if you're looking for an all-season tire. I couldn't comment on their tread life as my experience was short-lived, but yes, the G009 is an excellent tire.

Thanks for the advice.

The reason I chose the brigestone is because it's a high performance all season... whereas the tire you mentioned is classified as a summer tire.

I'd like to keep one set that I can run year round... but maybe I'll just go back to the two set approach... and get some summers and some snow tires. Hmmm... this is going to take some thought.

Cool, if you're looking for an all-season tire then the UHPs would not be option. But for the price the G009s are going for now, it would be cheaper to get two sets. It's a shame I didn't get to run the G009s this winter to see how they performed in snow. Our winters have become so mild here in Oklahoma I don't even change out my tires anymore. I know the G009s performed as well as they rated in dry conditions. I'm sure the reviews aren't far off concerning the winter conditions either. Good luck man.
