17's look like crap unless you're lowered.

+1, but to the OP this is not the reason we frown upon 17's. The problem is that your unnecessarily sacrificing ride comfort so that you can rock bIG riiiimzzzz. 16's will allow you to up the series of tires you run, in turn adding performance, while maintaining a healthy amount of your ride comfort.

Yeah, go with 16"s. My car came with 17"s and the ride quality really sucks.

For what it's worth. one of my friends had a 1992 civic that was lowered and had 17" Motegi M7's on it and the ride was garbage, it was so shaky/bumpy you didn't want to ride in it long.

My Civic has the stock steel 13"s on it for now, but when I get rims, I'm already decided on getting the M7's in 15" andgunmetal color. I can run 195/50's on them and that should be sufficeint in the performance, and still give good ride quality.

its also raising your rotational mass...which in effectdecreases your accel. and deccel.

i've got 17's and i love the way they look, but like others said, the ride quality is sacraficed, i'm getting 16's in the future with some fatter tires. i'd say 16's with a suddle drop will be adequate. my 17's with a 2.5" drop isn't necessarily the ride quality i'm going for right now, thats why i'm going with ksports with a 1" or so drop to relieve the rough ride.

i got 17s..... and for the ride quality sure its alittle bumpier.... BUT for the looks im happy with them

but definatly wouldnt want some 18s.LOL
