Default smash oil pan and tranny???

ok i am putting a body kit on my civic and i have 16 inch rims with low profile tire size 205/45/16 now i want to drop it maybe an inch or so and am planning to get s-tech springs, however my mechanic said sincei live in ny ill be hitting potholes and having to come back for a new oil pan a lot also he said my 92 civic lx sedan is a model that has the tranny near the oil pan so i can mess up my tranny as well... is this true?????

If you drop the suspension by one inch, you shouldn't have any problems. You will increase the chance of damaging the front lip by lowering your car. And if you do hit a pothole, you are more likely to ruin your rims before you ruin the oil pan.
Take a look under your car. Get to know your car so you don't get BS from a mechanic. Look at how close the oil pan is to the ground in relation to the bottom most part of the transmission. There's a couple inches between the ground and bottom of the oil pan. Dropping it one inch closer is not that bad. A more drastic drop and the chances of putting a big dent in the oil pan is higher.

I'm 3" off the ground and I live in PA, I don't have any issues. However, your body kit is gonna get the **** kicked out of it.

I don't know how many inches I've dropped, something around 4" or so probably.
