I think my brake pads and rotors are going on about 3 years old or so. Don't really know. I think the rotors are starting to warp because there is some vibration when I stop. And I feel like the brakes are just not as powerful as they should be.

And I am feeling adventurous.

I am armed with the following items:
- Haynes manual
- assorted wrenches and screwdrivers
- penetrating oil
- jackstands
- c-clamps (hope they will work to push the piston back in)
- sunscreen (lots)

Still need to pick up:
- pads and rotors (I did read this thread but feel free to recommend anything)
- those brass screws, you know (can I get them at advance auto parts or do I have to go to a dealer? and will I need an impact screwdriver to get them out?)
- do I really need a torque wrench?

Oh I wasn't asking for a DIY. I can take pictures of the whole process and let the mods do their "thing" if the photos are okay.

Yeah same here gotta do them before the rotor get damage.

 

Depending on how old/screwed up they are, you might consider just having the rotors turned. It'll save you mad bank.

 

Hmm, I hadn't considered that. Any estimate on $$? Is that something they could do while I wait? I was planning on doing it Sunday and I don't think there are many places open then. But I could wait.
