Default tire rub

Has anyone tried an EM2 ('05 4DR.) with 225/40R17 tires on +40mm offset rims, lowered 1.5"? Wondering if I will have tire rub problems after lowering my car 1.5"?

205 is the widest tire you can run and not rub without fender modifications.

Nail,
Are you speaking from experience with an EM2?

I have 215/40/17's on an 01 LX and I do not have any tire rubbing. Thats with Tokico and Tein Springs.

ORIGINAL: I EM 2 4DR.

I claim no expertise with Honda suspensions (I am here trying to sort out a few things for muy wife's '96 Civic and the '07 Civic she is buying), but I have some experience with VWs and BMWs (both street and track). Both are set up with coilovers and adjustable camber (plates in the front and adjustable control arms in the rear). So, some general thoughts: the actual width of a 225/40-17 will depend on several factors. The particular brand of tire (some are wider, some narrower), inflation (obvious) and the specific wheel used. It's not a lot, but a wider width wheel will typically generate a wider actual patch and section width. Most of the tire manufacturers have pretty good spec sheets online that can help you understand what to expect. Front camber will also impact fender clearance; adding a half degree of negative camber can do a lot. Also, you did not mention how much spring rate you are adding as part of the lowering process.
