Tire sugestions please
I have a 97 HX with orig. hx rims( I think they are 14"), I live in Florida, so no snow, however we get alot of rain in summer. I want something that will handle good, look good, low noise, and good in rain.
I'm not real savy on metric tires and what my rims can handle or fit, so some feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

Here you go:

Unfortunately, the top-rated tires start at 15-inch (195/50/15), so get some larger wheels!

well if ya wanna upgrade the rims id say just alittle larger should be good...
but best thing to do is if you want your stock size.... check out some other feedback from other tires....
go to discounttire.com select your tire size and check out the tire reviews from the tires in your price range....
tho dont think one bad review will always be true and discredit the model tire.LOL
thiers always these idiots that just pick a tire size which is wrong for thier car or have alignment issues and they blame the tire.LOL newbies...LOL
just check the reviews and pick whats in your price range and performance range and even looks range

OK, I think I have decided to go with the Bridgstone potenza re960as pole position tires, I like my stock HX rims and would like to stay with them for the time being. I guess my question is,can I and should I go for the 195/60/14, or thestock 185/65/14? will there be any problems mounting them?
Excuse my ignorance, I know little about metriccar tire sizes.

well your problem will mainly be your speedo... as if the tires are larger youll be going faster than your MPH gauge says.... i would stay with the same outter diameter but you could run slightly wider id asume... just have to check for some rubbing issues in the front.

RE: Tire sugestions please
It depends a lot on how you use/drive your car. I run 195/60-14 Yokohama Avid H4Ss on D3 14x6 alloys for my auto '00 VP sedan, and they stick extremely well in the rain compared to the 185/60-14 Goodyear Eagle GTIIs I used to run on the stock 14x5.5 steel rims. They're extremely stable at anything remotely close to a legal speed andhandle standing water almost like it's not there. They had the highest wear and traction ratings I could find at any price, but they only ran me about $55US/each at www.tirerack.com. I don't know if they'd be any good on a track (I don't race), but they're a great wet or drycommuter tire and when they start to lose traction it is very gradual and predictable. The car feels much more stable and safe now, even when driving fast. The 195/60-14 is very close in overall diameter to a 185/65-14. It's just a hair smaller, so your speedo will likely indicate faster than your actual speed by less than 10%.
