Default wheelwell worn away

The passenger side wheel well has been worn away by tires from the previous driver of the car. I didnt think it would be a problem, however he also routed the air intake to place the filter there. Now the air filter is rusted to crap and inhibiting the air flow to my engine. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what I could do? I guess i could replace the wheel well, anyone got an extra>?

you probably should replace it. check on craigslist, ebay, local junk yard. does the wheel well cover have a hole on it. you might have a problem with the filter being there when it rains, water being sucked up into the engine= not good
